Mayor William P. Moon, Jr.
City of Oil City
21 Seneca St.
Oil City, PA 16301
Dear Mayor Moon,
As Local Coordinator of Venango County Tea Party Patriots, I was directed by the group at our meeting this month to write to you commending you on your decision to reject the intimidation of the AALC in demanding that the “Tyrants Bench” in Oil City Justus Park be removed.
Upon reading this morning’s Derrick, I noted that because of the cost of litigation that will be incurred to defend this decision, you are reconsidering. May we offer some assistance for you to consider?

They have been successful defending the following issues, just to name a few
- Settled a lawsuit against a North Carolina state park policy that was used to threaten church members for witnessing.
- Defended displays of the Ten Commandments in federal lawsuits filed by the ACLU in Florida and Kentucky.
- Filed an amicus brief before the U.S. Supreme Court securing the right of the World War II veterans to display a memorial cross in the Mojave Desert.
We highly recommend that you contact them at Liberty Counsel, P.O. Box 540774, Orlando, FL 32854 or by calling (407) 875-1776. More information may be obtained at their website: www.lc.org

Mr. Tracy Jamieson
City Manager
City of Franklin
430 Thirteenth St.
Franklin, PA 16323
Dear Ms Jamieson,
As Local Coordinator of Venango County Tea Party Patriots, I am writing to express our deep regrets for those in our community who disrespect their fellowman so much that they feel it their public duty to attack a most basic religious and American tradition of having a Christmas Nativity displayed in a public park. I found it interesting that their cowardly complaint didn’t even merit a signature on their part. Typically, if people can’t even identify themselves, they are considered nothing but troublemakers and can be ignored.
Regardless, the onslaught of complaints to both Franklin and Oil City present problems for our elected officials and city employees. There seems to be no solution that is going to appease all and not be fiscally hazardous to our hometowns. However, our cities are not the first to face these problems. May we suggest a resource that could help?

If this organization is contacted it might be wise to join forces with Oil City. (A similar letter has been sent to Mayor William Moon.) The Veterans and Citizens of our area deserve to be defended as their First Amendment rights are under attack.
If we can be of further help in this matter, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Many thanks to our candidates for participating in this forum and also to Ryan Fair and Molly Beth Black, our CLA Media consultants. Molly is a graduate of Penn State Behrand and has a Communications Degree. She is a former student of Christian Life Academy. Ryan Fair is a Junior at Christian Life Academy and serves on their current Media Team. I trust the experience was a learning experience for them as well as me, the interviewer.
