From State Senator Mike Folmer:

March, typically the largest revenue collection month of the year, ended with collections 2.4 percent – or $94.7 million – over estimates. However, fiscal year-to-date collections are 1.9 percent – or $386.9 million –below estimates.

For those who don’t think the Commonwealth is spending enough consider the current $27.1 billion state budget equates to spending:

  • $74.3 million a day
  • $3 million an hour
  • $51,653 each minute
  • $861 each second (snap your fingers to equal 1 second)

Add in federal dollars and other special funds, Pennsylvania’s yearly total spending equals $63.3 billion, or:

  • $173.4 million a day
  • $7.2 million an hour
  • $120,434 each minute
  • $2,007 each second
