Coal miners and coal executives alike are upset at the recent push for environmental regulations that will cripple, if not put an end, to the entire coal mining industry. All this in the name of clean energy, which has yet to be proven to be sustainable and a viable source.

For many in America’s coal country, ranging from Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania, it is a way of life. It is a lifestyle that has passed on from generation to generation. Many go in knowing the dangers and continue to do so as long as there is coal to mine and mouths to feed.

The coal-mining state of West Virginia voted for Mitt Romney in the last election because of Obama’s strict environmental policies. However, Pennsylvania and Ohio voted for Obama, and now, they might be feeling the pinch as coal mining declines under stringent regulatory policies by Obama’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

At least 100 coal mining plants have closed their doors since Obama came into office. Another 150 plants will close due to regulations by the end of 2020.
