In order to expedite the investigations, the IRS has enlisted a team of 150 full-time employees, many of whom are lawyers, working to produce more than 500,000 pages of documents requested by congressional oversight committees.

John Koskinen — who was sworn in Monday — told reporters the Senate Finance Committee “is working to close its work in the very near future.” House investigations are ongoing, but the “vast majority” of the information requested by Congress has been provided.

But the Republican spokeswoman for a House committee leading the investigation said the process has taken much longer than needed because the IRS resisted congressional document requests.
