Today President Obama asked members of Congress to back a $5 to $10 billion plan to help homeowners refinance their homes. The program would seek to move homeowners who have been locked out of refinancing into government-backed loans. Nearly 11 million Americans are underwater on their mortgages, meaning they owe more than their homes are worth. Millions more have lost their homes in states that are up for grabs in November’s presidential election. Read more here.
