The U.S. Department of Labor has withdrawn new regulations that would have prohibited children under the age of 18 from participating in much farm work. That report came late Thursday afternoon from the office of Congressman Tim Huelskamp (R-Kansas).
“There is no better place to develop an appreciation for hard work and a strong work ethic than the family farm,” says the congressman. Huelskamp had lobbied the Obama administration to withdraw the proposal, which he had described as “just one of a whole host of job-killing regulations that threaten the family farm.”
