From newsworks.org:   Unless courts rule otherwise, when you go to the polls in Pennsylvania this November, you’ll need to present a photo ID to be allowed to vote.

The new state law affects everyone, from first-time voters to senior citizens to those who seek an absentee ballot.

Unfortunately the complex law has spawned a lot misinformation.

Here are five common misconceptions we’d like to clear up:

1. “If I don’t have a birth certificate, I can’t vote.”

FALSE

2. “I am a college student in Pennsylvania, and I cannot use my student ID to vote.”

FALSE

3. “Under the new ID law, I can’t vote by absentee ballot.”

FALSE

4.Data from PENNDOT and the Department of State prove that hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvania residents lack the correct form of ID to vote this November.”

FALSE
